The 2024-25 NHL Regular Season has concluded, meaning half the league will be competing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the other half will be getting ready for the draft, which will be held on June 27 and 28 at the Hulu Theater in Los Angeles.
The date for the lottery has not been scheduled yet, but the odds are set and are based off the regular season standings.
The San Jose Sharks are favored to get the No. 1 draft pick again this year, after choosing Macklin Celebrini first overall last summer. San Jose has an 18.5% chance to land the top spot for the second year in a row.
The Chicago Blackhawks, who picked No. 1 overall in 2023 and second in 2024, have the second-best odds at 13.5%.
The Nashville Predators have the third-best odds at 11.5%, followed by the Philadelphia Flyers at 9.5.
In the draft lottery, two teams are selected, but a team can only move up 10 spotsโso only the top 11 teams are eligible for the first pick.
Defenseman Matthew Schaefer of the Erie Otters leads NHL Central Scouting's final North American rankings, with Saginaw Spirit center Michael Misa in second after scoring 62 goals in the OHL.
